SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The freshman duo of
Andres Otero and
Alexander Sause were among four Golden Bears who were double winners on Tuesday, leading the Western New England University men's tennis team to a 9-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Curry College at the Volvo Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Golden Bears move to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the CCC, while the Colonels are now 1-7 and 0-3.
Otero was victorious at No. 3 singles against Charlie Paltsios in straight sets without giving up a single game and at No. 2 doubles with Sause over Paltsios/Rob Knight.
Sause also won at No. 2 singles over Toma Blatchford, 6-2 and 6-1.
Senior captain
Chris Holzinger defeated Tyler Collins, 6-3 and 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Holzinger teamed with sophomore Peter Lefrancois for a No. 1 doubles win versus Collins and Blatchford.
Lafrancois also won at No. 5 singles, a 6-3, 6-0 decision to down Knight.
Western New England won all three doubles matches by an 8-3 score.
