SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Visiting Springfield College defeated Western New England University 7-2 in non-conference women's tennis action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts on Thursday. The Pride improve to 2-3 while the Golden Bears drop to 3-4 on the season.
Freshman
Caleigh Curran led WNE with a No. 1 singles win in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-2. She also teamed up with fellow first year
Joeanna Glantz at No. 1 doubles, losing a tough match at 9-7.
Trailing 3-0 after the doubles round, WNE got back into the match with a pair of singles victories from Curran and No. 4
Lindsey Brudvig. Brudvig lost 6-1 in the first set to Ariana Shemms, but stormed back in the second at 6-4 to even the match before taking a super-set tiebreaker, 10-5, for the win.
At No. 6 singles, freshman
Corey St. Louis gave Alanna Grady a tough match in a 6-4, 2-6, 10-4 loss.
