SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Despite getting a career-high 17 kills from
Kelsey Armstrong, the Western New England University women's volleyball team couldn't solve visiting University of New England in a 25-23, 10-25, 27-25, 25-21 loss on Saturday at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house. The Nor'easters improve to 7-5 overall, drawing even at 1-1 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action, while the Golden Bears drop to 10-5 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.
Junior Leah Janelle posted an UNE-high 14 kills, classmate Angie Brunette finished with 12 kills against just one attack error, and senior Maria Kuehl played a strong all-around match by totaling 27 assists, 13 digs and six kills.
Besides Armstrong hitting .325,
Devyn Frank, Kasey Cameron and
Maureen Pollet added kills of nine, eight, and seven kills for the Golden Bears, who attacked for a .243 percentage as a team.
Jessica Sincero contributed 19 assists and
Grace Kucharski had 15 digs for the WNE cause.
