Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Kasey Cameron, Maureen Pollet and Devyn Frank combined for 33 kills and .338 hitting to power the Golden Bears to a resounding 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 victory Friday over Western Connecticut State on the first day of their own Western New England Volleyball Invitational at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house. The Golden Bears improve to 5-0 on the season after capturing their home opener while handing the Colonials their first loss in four starts.

After a slow start, the WNE offense kicked into high gear in the second and third sets with attack percentages of .300 and .341, respectively, to close out the match in 1 hour and 12 minutes. The Golden Bears had more kills (42) than the Colonials (28).

Western New England also played great defense behind Grace Kucharski's match-high 21 digs. The Golden Bears also held WCSU to a .122 attack percentage.

Melanie Lombardi paced the Colonials with seven kills, .313 hitting, five digs and three total blocks. Caitlin Van Camp (.600) and Heather Williams (.308) added six and five kills, respectively.

In other action tonight, Emerson handled Elms by a 25-15, 25-9, 25-13 decision. Kat Westbrook led the Lions with nine kills, and Alexandra Mack had four for the Blazers. Jamie Morgan also stood out for Emerson with a match-best 19 digs.
