SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Golden Bears women's volleyball team swept both Elms (25-8, 25-11, 25-19) and Emerson (25-20, 25-20, 25-18) colleges on Saturday at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house, capturing their own Western New England University Invitational for the second season in a row.
Western New England's
Kelsey Armstrong had more kills (8) than Elms (5) as a team, which hit minus-.113 after committing 11 errors among 53 attack attempts. Armstrong hit .313 and added eight digs, while
Devyn Frank recorded seven kills and .875 hitting. Head coach Bret Stothart rotated three setters who each did a solid job:
Jenna Leuck (career-high 14 assists),
Rachel Meachem (13 assists) and
Jessica Sincero (9 assists).
In the win against the Lions, Frank led the way with 13 kills and .571 hitting.
Maureen Pollet added nine put-downs, .364 hitting and seven digs.
Grace Kucharski notched 22 digs to pace the WNE defense.
