Joe Budnick recorded three points, including the eventual game-winning goal in the third period, and senior
Alan Martin scored twice to power host Western New England to a 5-4 victory Tuesday over Framingham State in non-conference men's hockey action at Smead Rink at Blunt Park. The Golden Bears improve to 8-4 on the season while the Rams fall to 6-4-1.
Budnick, who played his first two seasons at NCAA Division I Connecticut, broke a 4-4 tie with his third goal of the season and the second of the night, unassisted, at the 6:06 mark of the final stanza.
Budnick opened the scoring at the 3:36 mark into the opening period before Thomas Tracy tied it just 22 seconds later.

Brandon Stroud, however, put WNE back in front with his fifth goal of the season at the 6:11 mark. Martin scored his first goal of the night at 14:47 of the first period, with senior defenseman
Cam Napolitan getting an assist.
Daniel Miressi and Brendan McCarron scored 26 seconds apart midway through the second period to forge Framingham into a 3-3 tie. McCarron's tally came with the Rams on the power play.
Martin also scored a power play goal for a 4-3 WNE lead early in the third period.
Miressi added another goal to tie the score at 4 just 12 seconds after Martin's fourth goal, setting up Budnick's heroics later on.
Western New England returns to action on Thursday and Friday with a tour of Upstate New York against Brockport and nationally No. 8-ranked Utica.
