BRISTOL, R.I.--Visiting Western New England battled but came out on the short end of a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Roger Williams in quarterfinal action of the 2014 Commonwealth Coast Conference women's tennis championships on Tuesday at the RWU Tennis Courts. With the win, the No. 3-seeded Hawks (11-3 overall) advance to the CCC Semifinals, where they will travel to take on second seed Nichols College at 2 p.m. Thursday. The No. 6-seed Golden Bears close their traditional fall season at 7-7.

Lauren Sell lost a hard-fought No. 1 doubles match to Alexandra Brown/Lauren Schmidt, 8-5. Roger Williams also won at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles by scores of 8-3 and 8-0.
Western New England will return to the court with a few spring dates.
