Box Score 3 MINNEOLA, Fla.--The Western New England University softball team is in the middle of its second day of the National Training Center Dot Richardson Spring Games on Sunday. The Golden Bears began the evening at Minneola Park No. 2 with a 10-2 loss in six innings at the hands of McDaniel College before blanking Carroll University 4-0 in the split doubleheader.
Sophomore
Alexis Bukowski went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, including a home run and double, against the Green Terror. Senior tri-captain
Maria Francese and junior pitcher
Lauren Zambrano added a single apiece for the Golden Bears.
Sam Stitely led McDaniel's 15-hit attack by going 3-for-3 at the plate, with three runs scored. Rachel Sidney was 2-for-3, including a double, and two RBI, plus two walks.ÂÂ
McDaniel took a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning before Bukowski hit her first homer of the spring to account for the Golden Bears runs.
Against Carroll, sophomore pitcher
Mickayla Keltos, a transfer from NCAA Division II Felician College, led WNE to a 4-0 shutout.
