Western New England overcomes slow start for 3-1 win over visiting Westfield State

Box Score SPRINGFILD, MA - Caryl Skibinski compiled 11 kills and a .250 hitting percentage as Western New England overcame a slow start to claim a 3-1 victory over Westfield State in a non-conference women's volleyball match Friday evening (Oct. 2) at the Alumni Healthful Living.

The Owls captured the first set 25-16 before the Golden Bears bounced back to take the next three sets by the scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-15.

Megan Canfield added 14 assists and Emily Woodford and Brianna Roath contributed 14 and 12 digs, respectively as Western New England improved its record to 8-5.

Shannon Shea had seven kills and 12 digs for the Owls who fall to 7-8.

Lizzie Taylor had a match high 19 digs with Danielle Hunt the third WSU player in double figures in digs with 13.
