Freshman defenseman Matthieu Audet tied it at 2-2 with 5:03 left in the period with assists to freshman David DiSchiavi and Genord. JWU held the advantage in shots once more 14-7 in the stanza and 27-13 after two periods of play.

WNE got the scoring under way when senior Andy Cramer connected on a pass from sophomore Josh Twietmeyer to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead 9:53 into the first period. The Wildcats answered when sophomore Stefan Brucato sent a pass in front of the net to classmate Fran Mackin and Mackin buried the shot in the back of the net. The Wildcats had the man-advantage and tied things up at 1-1 with under two minutes left in the period. The teams went into the locker room tied with JWU holding a 13-6 advantage in shots.

Ben Kantor and Brad Atkinson combined for 19 saves in net for the Wildcats.

Western New England hits the ice again on Thursday (7:10 p.m.) versus league foe Salve Regina at Blunt Park at Smead Rink. JWU will be back in action that night when it hosts Nichols for an ECAC Northeast matchup beginning at 7:45 p.m.
