WENHAM, Mass.â€"Senior tri-captain
Greg Tischofer accounted for two of Western New England's points on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as host Gordon College doubled up on the Golden Bears, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's tennis action at the Brigham Courts.
Tischofer won a thrilling match at No. 6 singles by overcoming a 6-4 loss in the first set to down Joe Daugherty in a pair of super tiebreakers, 10-7 and 12-10. He also teamed up with classmate
Chris Spear at No. 3 doubles to double up James Hawn and Daugherty, 8-4.
For his part, Spear had a singles comeback of his own at No. 3. He defeated Michael D'Antuono, who had taken the first set 6-2, by 6-2 and 6-1 scores in the next two.
Western New England is at Salve Regina in another CCC encounter at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
