SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 14, 2016) - The Western New England University men's tennis team bounced back from its tough loss yesterday with a 5-4 victory over crosstown rival American International College this afternoon in non-conference action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.

Western New England went 2-1 in doubles play and split the six singles matches with AIC, an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Northeast-10 Conference. Freshman
Drew Berg (Wilbraham, Mass.) sealed the win with his 6-0, 6-0 victory over Michael Schulze at No. 5 singles.

Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) and sophomore
Kevin Yawgel (Cromwell, Conn.) also came out on top at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Kohut cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Johno May, and Yawgel earned a 6-2, 6-1 result over Andrew DeBrincat.

Western New England's No. 2 doubles duo of seniors
Alexander Sause (Cusago, Italy) and
Chris Spear (Windsor, Conn.) earned a point with their 8-5 victory over Luis Gouveia/May, while sophomore
Nick Raschilla (East Longmeadow, Mass.) teamed up with Berg for an 8-0 win over Schulze/DeBrincat at No. 3 doubles.

Graduate student James Worrall led the way for the Yellow Jackets, defeating senior
Andres Otero (Caracas, Venezuela) 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles after joining Ricardo Martinez for an 8-5 win over Otero/Kohut at No. 1 doubles.

Western New England (7-3, 2-2 CCC) will be right back in action on Saturday with a home match against Salve Regina at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.ÂÂ
