SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 16, 2016) - The Western New England University men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Salve Regina University this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.
Western New England's No. 1 doubles tandem of senior
Andres Otero (Caracas, Venezuela) and freshman
Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) set the tone for the Golden Bears with an 8-1 win over Jack Lawlor/D.J. Bisaillon, while seniors
Alexander Sause (Cusago, Italy) and
Chris Spear (Windsor, Conn.) teamed up for an 8-1 triumph over Kevin Brocks/Jeremiah Callahan at No. 2.

Nick Raschilla (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman
Drew Berg (Wilbraham, Mass.) capped Western New England's sweep of doubles play with an 8-4 win over Will Masse/Matt Gingras at No. 3.

In singles action, Otero earned a 6-1, 6-0 result over Lawlor at No. 1, Sause cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Bisaillon at No. 2, and Spear defeated Masse, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.

Kohut improved to 10-1 at No. 4 singles this spring with his 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Brocks, while Berg and sophomore
Kevin Yawgel (Cromwell, Conn.) rounded out Western New England's singles lineup with wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively. Berg posted a 6-0, 3-0 victory over Gingras, who retired due to injury, and Yawgel topped Alessio Ayuninjam 6-0, 6-1.

Western New England (8-3, 3-2 CCC) will be back in action on Wednesday with a tough test at four-time defending CCC champion Nichols, before hitting the road again on Saturday for a match at Nichols.ÂÂ
