BEVERLY, Mass. (April 23, 2016) - The Western New England University men's tennis team suffered a 5-0 setback at the hands of Endicott College this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Bass River Tennis Club in Beverly, Mass.

The Gulls went 3-0 in doubles play and 2-0 in singles competition as the match was played to decision. Western New England drops to 8-5 (3-4 CCC) with the loss, while Endicott improves to 10-7 (5-2 CCC).

Endicott's No. 1 doubles duo of Chris Kirkpatrick/Michael Dolph registered an 8-2 victory over senior
Andres Otero (Caracas, Venezuela) and freshman
Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.), while Eric Pierce/Keaton McCleary edged Western New England seniors
Alexander Sause (Cusago, Italy) and
Chris Spear (Windsor, Conn.), 8-6 at No. 2.

The Gulls secured a sweep of doubles play as Nicholas Eherts/Matthew Doherty defeated sophomore
Nick Raschilla (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman
Drew Berg (Wilbraham, Mass.), 8-1 at No. 3.

In singles action, Pierce topped Spear, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, and Dolph secured the clinching point with his 6-4, 6-1 win over Sause at No. 2.

Western New England returns home for its regular season finale on Tuesday, as the Golden Bears will celebrate senior day with a CCC contest against Roger Williams at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.
