Box Score Audet records two assists, Gollmer finishes with 36 saves
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (January 9, 2017) – The Western New England University ice hockey team opened up a 3-0 lead early in the second period and held on for a 4-2 non-conference victory at Framingham State University this evening at Loring Arena.
Top Performers
• Junior defenseman Matthieu Audet (Campbell, Calif.) recorded a pair of assists for Western New England, while sophomore forward Steve Beck (Milton, N.Y.) scored the goal that would prove to be the difference in the contest at the 6:25 mark of the second period.
• Sophomore goaltender Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) finished with 36 saves, his tenth 30+ save performance in 14 games this season.
• Freshman Jack Sheehan (Norwood, Mass.) and sophomore Ryan McDonough (Dorchester, Mass.) each scored for Framingham State, while freshman goaltender Greg Harney (East Haven, Conn.) made 27 saves in net.
Game Review
• Sophomore forward CJ Totillo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) staked Western New England to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when he scored on a rebound following a shot by Audet.
• Sophomore forward Stefan Koproske (Simsbury, Conn.) doubled the Golden Bears' advantage with five minutes left in the period with the help of assists from Audet and junior David DiSchiavi (Etobicoke, Ont.)
• Beck's team-leading sixth goal of the season 6:25 into the second period extended Western New England's lead to 3-0, but Sheehan got the Rams on the board just 31 seconds later.
• McDonough found the back of the net with just over five minutes remaining in the third period as Framingham State cut its deficit to one, but Gollmer saved the last two shots he faced and senior captain Josh Twietmeyer (Weston, Fla.) tacked on a late empty-net goal to seal the win.

• The Rams outshot the Golden Bears by a 38-31 margin.
• Western New England capitalized on 1-of-3 power play opportunities while successfully killing off both of Framingham State's chances with a man advantage.
• Beck's six goals are tied for 11th in the CCC.

Western New England (5-7-2) will be back on the road Friday afternoon at SUNY Fredonia, before resuming CCC play next Wednesday at Salve Regina. Framingham State (1-11) hosts Worcester State on Thursday night.
