Totillo, O'Dea & Twietmeyer score for Western New England

BEVERLY, Mass. (February 25, 2017) – Making its first postseason appearance since the 2012-13 campaign, the eighth-seeded Western New England University ice hockey team fell to top-seeded and No. 7/9 nationally ranked Endicott College, 8-3, in the quarterfinal round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament this afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

With the win, Endicott (21-3-2) advances to the CCC semifinals, where the Gulls will host sixth-seeded Johnson & Wales next Wednesday night. Western New England's season comes to a close at 8-16-2 overall.

Top Performers
• Sophomore forward CJ Totillo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored the opener for the Golden Bears and also helped set up Western New England's second goal.
• Senior captain Josh Twietmeyer (Weston, Fla.) and sophomore forward Matt O'Dea (Orland Park, Ill.) also found the back of the net.

• Junior Jack Musil (Hull, England) and sophomores Cam Bleck (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.) fueled Endicott's offense with two goals each.

Game Review
• The Golden Bears struck first just 1:48 into the contest when Totillo deflected sophomore Connor Graham's (Norfolk, Mass.) shot from the point into the back of the net.
• Musil knotted the game up at 1-1 with his 11th goal of the season on a drive from the right wing at the 8:43 mark of the first period, while Daniels gave the Gulls a 2-1 advantage when he put home freshman Bump Lisk's (Lawrenceville, N.J.) rebound into the net near the right post at 14:39.
• Endicott tallied another goal later in the period and led 3-1 at the first intermission. The Gulls would proceed to tack on three more goals in the second period before O'Dea scored on a power play at the 18:46 mark to make it 6-2.
• After Bleck and Musil both netted their second goals of the contest in the third period, Twietmeyer capped the scoring with his eighth tally of the season on a feed from sophomore David Kleyman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 4:43 remaining in regulation.

Notes
• Despite being outshot 55-48 overall, Western New England had more shots than Endicott in both the first (18-15) and third (24-16) periods.
• Western New England sophomore goaltender Kevin Gollmer (Flourtown, Pa.) finished with 47 saves.
• Endicott held a 44-36 advantage in the faceoff circle.
