Golden Bears' Season Concludes at NCAA New England Regional

Spooner finishes 233rd (29:17.84) to lead WNE

BRUNSWICK, Maine (November 10, 2018) – The Western New England University men's cross country team's 2018 campaign concluded on Saturday as the Golden Bears competed at the NCAA New England Regional Championship on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The Golden Bears placed 41st in the 58-team field with a team score of 1211. Amherst College captured the regional crown with a score of 65, while Williams (86), Middlebury (142), MIT (145) and Tufts (160) rounded out the top-five.

Plymouth State senior Sam Brunette won the individual title as he paced the 391-runner field with a time of 24:55.97 on the eight-kilometer course.

Western New England was led by freshman Anthony Spooner (West Bridgewater, Mass.), who wrapped up his promising rookie campaign with a 233rd place finish in 29:17.84.

Junior Adam Monroe (Wilton, N.Y.) finished 241st with a time of 29:30.39, and freshman Kyle O'Hern (Lincoln, R.I.) placed 243rd in 29:34.25.

Senior Nico Gallo (Ludlow, Mass.) earned a time of 29:40.33, good for 247th overall, while sophomore Jacob Eberli (Ludlow, Mass.) crossed the finish line 257th in 29:53.41.
