Late Goals Give Wentworth 4-2 Win over Western New England

Leopards score twice in final 3:33 of regulation

EVERETT, Mass. (November 17, 2018) – The Wentworth Institute of Technology ice hockey team scored two goals over the final 3:33 of regulation to claim a 4-2 victory over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Allied Veterans Memorial Rink.

Top Performers
Senior defenseman Connor Graham (Norfolk, Mass.) had a goal and an assist for the Golden Bears, while junior Andrew Green (Plainview, N.Y.) also found the back of the net and senior captain Eddie Rogers (St. Louis, Mo.) handed out two assists.

Wentworth junior Georgy Gorodetsky (Yekaterinburg, Russia) scored a pair of goals and classmate Nate Chase (Plainfield, Ill.) dished out two assists to pace the Leopards offensively.

Game Review
Wentworth took a 1-0 lead 5:34 into the contest when Gorodetsky scored with assists from junior Connor Beaudet (Buffalo, N.Y.) and freshman Tyler Lapshanski (Belvidere, N.J.).

The Leopards doubled their advantage with 2:22 to play in the second period on a goal by junior Adam Tracey (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.), but Western New England answered with 15 seconds remaining in the frame on Graham's second goal of the season.

The Golden Bears then equalized 4:02 into the third period when Green scored with the help of Graham and Rogers, but Wentworth freshman Jake McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.) buried the go-ahead goal with 3:33 remaining and Gorodetsky tacked on an insurance tally in the final minute to seal the win.

• Wentworth outshot Western New England 35-25.
• The Golden Bears held a 38-36 edge in the faceoff circle.
• Making his first career start in net, junior Baylee Johns (Woodstock, Conn.) finished with 31 saves on 35 shots.
