O'Dea nets second goal of the season for Golden Bears

BEVERLY, Mass. (November 3, 2018) – The Western New England University ice hockey team suffered an 8-1 setback to Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Raymond Bourque Arena.

Top Performers
Senior Matt O'Dea (Orland Park, Ill.) scored Western New England's lone goal in the third period with an assist from classmate Steve Beck (Milton, N.Y.).

Endicott senior forward Joseph Slovak (South Yarmouth, Mass.) paced the Gulls with a hat trick, while senior Tommy Besinger (Milton, Mass.) added a goal and two assists.

Game Review
Junior James Winkler (York, Maine) got the home team off to a 1-0 lead with a power play goal midway through the first period. Freshman Ricky Carballo (Keller, Texas) and Besinger also found the back of the net in the opening frame as the Gulls led 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Slovak scored two of his three goals in the second period, including a short-handed goal with three minutes to play that extended Endicott's lead to 5-0.

The Gulls outscored the Golden Bears 3-1 in the third period, with Western New England's goal coming courtesy of O'Dea.

• Endicott outshot Western New England 40-25.
• In 74 career games, O'Dea has recorded 58 points with 31 goals and 27 assists.
