Becker Surges Past Men's Ice Hockey, 4-1

WORCESTER, Mass. – Becker College scored four unanswered goals to earn a 4-1 win over Western New England University on Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's ice hockey action at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.

Top Performers
Junior forward Nolan Zweep (Abbotsford, B.C.) accounted for Western New England's lone goal with assists from senior Corey Kennedy (Clemmons, N.C.) and junior Luciano Bucci (Franklin Square, N.Y.).

Becker was led by sophomore forward Jason Diamond's (Lakeville, Conn.) hat trick performance, while junior goaltender Zach Skop (Pittstown, N.J.) finished with 26 saves on 27 shots.

Game Review
Western New England struck first on the power play midway through the opening period as Zweep buried his first goal of the season with the help of assists from Kennedy and Bucci. The Golden Bears led 1-0 at the first intermission.

Just over nine minutes into the second period, the Hawks tied the score on a goal by freshman forward Ian Zaleski (Boise, Idaho), which came with a man advantage.

Becker then jumped ahead late in the middle frame as Diamond notched his first goal of the night with just six seconds on the clock to give the home team a 2-1 edge at the second intermission.

Diamond's second tally of the night 6:50 into the third period gave the Hawks a 3-1 advantage, and the sophomore completed his hat trick in the final minute when the Golden Bears pulled senior goaltender Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in favor of an extra skater.

• Becker outshot Western New England 15-7 in the second period and 31-27 overall.
• The Golden Bears held a 35-28 advantage in the faceoff circle, led by Kennedy, who won 9-of-15 draws.
