Men's Basketball Downed by Nichols in Overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 6, 2021) – The Nichols College men's basketball pulled away in overtime to earn a 67-62 victory over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon.

Top Performers
Senior Alex Sikorski led the Golden Bears in scoring with 28 points, while junior Antonio Brancato scored 17 points. Junior Kenny Flynn grabbed 15 rebounds.

The Bison had four players score in double figures, with Elijah Lewis leading them with 17 points. Jerome Cunningham had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Game Review
The game started out similar to the previous night with both team trading baskets early. With the score at 8-7 in favor of Nichols, the Bison went on a 14-2 run to go up 22-9 with 7:51 remaining in the first half after a layup from Cunningham. The Golden Bears chipped away at the lead, making it a six-point deficit going into halftime.

A three pointer from Sikorski with 10:23 remaining in regulation gave Western New England the lead for the first time since it was 2-0. The game came down to the wire, with Brancato giving the Golden Bears a 57-55 lead with 1:12 remaining. Cunningham answered for the Bison on the next play to tie it at 57. Nichols outscored Western New England 10-5 in overtime to take the win.
