Women's Tennis Drops to Endicott on Opening Day

BEVERLY, Mass. (September 15, 2021) – The women's tennis team opened their 2021 season on the road and with conference play at Endicott where the Golden Bears fell 6-3.

Aliza McLeish and Arriana Hasiuk took the number one position for the Golden Bears in doubles while Hailey MacDonald and Jennifer Arling paired up at the number two. Both doubles teams lost their opening matches 8-2 to the Gulls. Janet Martinelli and Michelle McDermott competed in the number three position and dropped their match 8-3.

Headed into singles, the Golden Bears trailed 3-0 to the Gulls. McLeish earned the number one spot for Western New England followed by Martinelli in the two, Hasiuk at the three, Sydney Lewis at the four, Erin Klesczewski at the five, and Arling in the six. Hasiuk won her match with 6-3 and 7-5 set victories with Klesczewski winning at the number five with 6-3 and 6-4 set wins. The Gulls forfeited the number six position, giving Arling an automatic win. The Golden Bears dropped the remainder of the singles matches and ultimately lost the match 6-3.

The Golden Bears are back in action on Saturday, September 18th when they travel to Nichols College for another conference match up at 11 a.m.
