BOSTON, Mass. (September 20, 2021) – The Golden Bears women's tennis team records their first win of the 2021 season with a 6-3 victory over conference rival Suffolk.

How It Happened:
The Golden Bears opened doubles play with Aliza McLeish and Arriana Hasiuk in the number one position where they came up just short and fell to the Rams 8-5. Janet Martinelli and Kaylin Gibbons made up ground with an 8-4 win at the number to and tied the match 1-1. Jennifer Arling and Eiren Klesczewski competed at the number three and gave the Golden Bears a lead in the match when they defeated the Rams 8-5. The Golden Bears led 2-1 after doubles.
In singles, the Golden Bears dropped at the number one position, but Hasiuk continued her win-streak defeating her opponent 6-1 and 6-0 to keep Western New England ahead. Martinelli won her match at the number three with two 6-2 set wins while Sydney Lewis held her own at the number four winning 7-6 and 6-1. The Golden Bears led 5-2 with two singles matches left. The Golden Bears fell at the number five before Klesczewski won 6-3 and 6-4 to seal the 6-3 victory for Western New England.
