NEWPORT, R.I. (October 16, 2022) – In their final regular season match of the season, the Western New England women's tennis team would fall at Salve Regina University by a final score of 9-0, dropping to 3-5 on the season and 3-4 in conference play. 

How it Happened:
The doubles round did not turn in Western New England's favor, though all three matches would be back and forth action. Gianna Arace and Arriana Hasiuk would fall to Salior Nordstrom and Casey Farrell by a score of 8-4. Sydney Shepard and Eiren Klesczewski, who made her debut, fell by a final score of 8-4, as well. Dani Martinez would partner with Aliza McLeish for the first time this season, though fell 8-2, giving Salve Regina the first three points of the match. 

In singles action, Aliza McLeish would compete hard with Salve's Nordstrom, though fell 2-6, 3-6. In the second position, Arriana Hasiuk would drop a three-set thriller to Alexa Stevens 6-4, 1-6, 6-10. Dani Martinez, Gianna Arace, Gabrielle Tirkot and Sydney Shepard would all drop close matches on the afternoon, falling to Salve Regina by a score of 9-0. 

This would conclude the regular season for the Golden Bears women's tennis team. After the match, the seeding for the upcoming CCC Women's Tennis Playoffs were announced. 

The Endicott Gulls would finish at the top of the standing at 7-0 in CCC play and 9-3 overall. Roger Williams would sit second with a 12-1 overall record and 6-1 CCC mark, falling to just Endicott earlier in the season. Nichols College would finish 5-2 in CCC play, 6-3 on the season, placing them at the three seed in the CCC tournament. Salve Regina, who needed to knock off WNE to place fourth, did just that, finishing the season at 4-3 in CCC play and 5-5 overall. The Golden Bears took the fifth seed after a 3-4 CCC record on the season and 3-5 record overall. Gordon College finished at 2-5 in CCC play, 2-8 on the season, picking up the six seed. Both Curry College and Suffolk University fell short of this season's playoffs, going 1-6, and 0-7 in CCC play, respectfully. 

Up Next on the Schedule:
The CCC Quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday, October 18 with the No. 3 seeded Nichols College Bison hosting the No. 6 seeded Gordon College Fighting Scots at 3:00 pm. The winner of the contest will take on the No. 2 seeded Roger Williams Hawks on Thursday, October 20. The No. 4 seeded Salve Regina Seahawks host the No. 5 seeded Western New England Golden Bears at 2:00 pm. The winner of that contest will go on to the CCC Semifinals to meet with the No. 1 seeded Gulls of Endicott College on Thursday, October 20 at 2:00 pm.
