WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (October 2, 2023) – The Western New England men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision on Monday afternoon to the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph's University of Connecticut.
How it Happened:
The Golden Bears would put up a fight in the doubles round before ultimately dropping the first three points of the match. Nick Bayer and Brandon Greger would fall 8-7 (8-6) in the doubles one position.
In singles action, the Golden Bears would take three of the six matches to a third set before falling 6-0 in doubles action. Michel Abizaid-Nunez would take the singles #2 match to three sets before falling 3-6, 6-1, 2-6. Brandon Greger forced a third set in the third singles position before dropping a 6-1, 4-6 match via retirement. Kyle Poccia made his WNE debut, falling 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 in three sets.
