Springfield, Mass. (October 22, 2023) - The Golden Bears returned to Suprenant Field for a major CCC matchup with the Gulls of Endicott College. With the CCC regular season championship and the overall number one seed in the CCC tournament on the line, both teams battled for all 90 minutes and saw the game end in a 0-0 tie.

How it Happened:
The game got underway with Molly McLaughlin and Rosalina Caliri in net for the Golden Bears and Gulls, respectively. The first shot of the game came from Gabby Sansone, who sent a shot at Caliri, who made the save in the 5th minute. In the 8th minute, Lindsay Reidy had a shot blocked. In the 10th minute, Endicott started to pressure the Golden Bears. That led to a shot by Morgan Hubert that was blocked. Hubert followed the block and had a shot that got past McLaughlin, but Malina LaCapra was there to clear the ball before it rolled into the net. Grace Jewett followed that with a shot that was blocked. Grace Jewett followed that shot and put a shot on net that McLaughlin made the save on. Endicott kept the pressure up for the next 15 minutes, but no shots were taken in that time. The Golden Bear defense was not breaking due to the constant pressure. The 25th minute saw Michelle Donahue send a shot at net, but McLaughlin was there for another save. The 29th minute then saw Ella Morgan get a shot off, but McLaughlin made the save again. Donahue would get another shot off in the 34th minute, but the ball sailed right of the net. The 35th minute saw Ella Morgan get a shot blocked by the WNE defense. The Golden Bears would counter a little towards the end of the half. Lindsay Reidy had a shot on goal that Caliri had to save. Then Keara Conroy had a shot go wide right of the net in the 44th minute. The half would end scoreless, even though Endicott kept pushing for the opening goal. Endicott had more shots, 8-4, in the half and more shots on goal, 4-2. The Gulls also had more fouls by a tally of 6-4. The teams were tied on corner kicks, with both teams having one, and the Golden Bears had four saves compared to the two by the Gulls.
After the break, the Gulls went back to pressuring the Golden Bears relentlessly. The 47th minute started with Ella Morgan having a shot blocked. That was followed by Samantha Klimas sending a shot at McLaughlin, which was saved. The 53rd minute saw Ella Morgan send a shot at McLaughlin, who made another save. Riley Rischitelli sent a shot towards the bottom center of the net, but McLaughlin was there for another save. The 56th minute then saw Morgan send a shot high of the net. Grace Jewett had a 59th-minute shot saved by McLaughlin, which led to a corner. That corner produced a shot by Angelina Venditti that went high and wide left of the net. Callie Neils was the next Endicott player to get a shot on net. This one got by McLaughlin, but again, the Golden Bear defense cleared it. Maria Butrimas was able to clear the ball and keep the game scoreless. Gabrielle Klindtworth then had a shot go over the net. Klindtworth had another shot in the 70th minute. It was at McLaughlin who made the save. The 75th minute saw Alexandria Dostie fly down the left side of the pitch. Dostie then sent a hard shot at the net, but it pinged off the woodwork. Dostie had another shot blocked in the 77th minute.
The 80th minute saw Grace Jewett send a shot wide of the net. The Gulls kept pushing for the potentially game-winning goal, but the Golden Bear defense and Molly McLaughlin were not letting that happen. Elizabeth Healy then went for goal in the 83rd minute, but it was blocked by a Golden Bear defender. Donohue had another opportunity in the 84th minute, but it went wide. Although the Gulls would make many more runs down the field towards the Golden Bear net, no shots came of it, and the game ended 0-0. The final stats saw the Gulls have more shots (23-4), more shots on goal (10-2), more corners (4-1), and more fouls (9-6). The Golden Bears had more saves (10-2).
