HARTFORD, Conn. (October 4, 2023) – The Western New England men's soccer team fell in their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday night, dropping a 2-0 contest at the hands of the Bantams of Trinity College. The Bantams would score once in both halves to grab their third win of the season.

How it Happened:
Although the Golden Bears would control much of the offensive play in the first half, the Bantams would get on the scoreboard first when James Donaldson found the back of the net on an assist from Quinn Ackman, just four minutes into the contest, to give the home team the early 1-0 lead. Starting keeper for WNE,
Braylon Casinghino, recorded one save in the opening 45 minutes, while the Golden Bears forced Bernardo Simones into three saves.
Matt Spruill,
Mike Milazzo, and
AJ Quiterio would all take shots in the first half, though Western New England would see themselves down a goal heading into the break. The Golden Bears outshot the hosts 8-4 in the first 45 minutes of play, while WNE was awarded five corner kicks to Trinity's two.
The Bantams would come out with another early goal to start the second half when Michael Traynor found James Donaldson for his second goal of the night and fourth goal overall on the season just seven minutes into the half, giving Trinity the 2-0 lead. WNE's
Ryan Suprin would play the final 25 minutes of the contest and would come away with three saves while not allowing a goal, keeping Trinity off the scoreboard. The Bantams would control much of the offensive play in the second half, as Western New England would only come away with three shots and two on goal in the 45 minutes of play, falling on Wednesday night to the Bantams by a final score of 2-0.
Around the Lines:
- Western New England goalkeeping, consisting of Braylon Casinghino and Ryan Suprin, would collect five saves in the 90-minute match.
- Mike Milazzo would shoot four times in the game, recording all four shots on goal. Matt Spruill came away with three shots, one on goal.
- James Donaldson was the difference-maker for Trinity, scoring both goals for the Bantams in the 2-0 win.
- Trinity GK came away with five saves on the Golden Bears on the night, grabbing his third shutout of the season.
