Women’s Wrestling Defeats New England College, 29-14

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 26, 2024) – The Western New England women's wrestling team improved in their victory from just 20 days ago when the visiting Pilgrims of New England College came to down, as the Golden Bears took down NEC by a final score of 29-14 on Friday night from the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center. 

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears recorded a forfeit win off the bat, seeing Ariel Casella (116 lbs.) claim victory. Janieliz Cotto came away with a pinfall victory for the Golden Bears in 0:50 over Olivia Delegas to earn Western New England five additional points. The Golden Bears would earn two additional forfeit wins, with Linda Holeman (130 lbs.) and Sabrina Sedor (136 lbs.) grabbing victories. 

Western New England would see Dakota-Marie Dinielli grab a pinfall victory over NEC's Olivia Wojtusik in 2:02 to help earn Western New England another five points in the match. Western New England's final win of the night came in the 155 lb. weight class when Kendall Branchaud picked up a technical superiority victory, 10-0 in 1:00, leading the Golden Bears to a win. The Golden Bears would finish with a 29-14 victory over the 'Grims, having defeated NEC 27-16 20 days ago.
