How it Happened:
The Saturday evening contest began with UNE picking up where they left off on Friday. They had eight shots in a row to start the game. Five of the shots tested the WNE goalie, Anthony Aureliano, in net, and Aureliano made each save. The teams traded shots for a couple of minutes before UNE sent three shots at the goal in the sixth minute. Jacob Pellerin would find Noah Szretter, who sent a shot at goal, which slid wide. However, Cam Bergeman was there to send the puck into the back of the net and give UNE an early 1-0 lead. WNE restarted the first with two shots and one on the UNE goalie, Joey Stanizzi. UNE then had twelve shots in a row throughout the first period. The WNE defense would block shots and force them wide, also. Only three of the shots got to Aureliano, who made the saves. WNE got a power play chance at the end of the first. However, they would not get a shot off. UNE ended the opening period of play with two shots, one on Aureliano, which was saved. The period concluded with WNE down 1-0 to UNE. The stats saw UNE leading in shots 26-4 and shots on goal 11-2. WNE had more blocked shots, 8-0 and saves 10-2. Both teams had eight faceoff wins.

The second quarter saw UNE open up their lead from one goal to five. Both teams started the second with two shots. However, 2:11 into the second, Nick Marino doubled the UNE lead. Jacob Pellerin found Anthony Sciucco, who would forward the puck to Nick Marino. Marino sent the puck whistling into the back of the net, and UNE led 2-0. UNE would continue the pressure with three shots, but WNE answered with three. Two of them had to be saved by Stanizzi. However, after WNE went on that run of shots, Noah Szretter found Nathan Chickering moving towards the WNE goal. Chickering found Mike Tersoni, who found the back of the net with a shot on goal. UNE led 3-0 with just over eleven minutes remaining in the middle period of play. WNE tried to flip the script with a shot saved by Stanizzi. Then, UNE struck for the fourth time. Ryan Kuzmich was able to find Dominic Murphy in the WNE defensive zone. Murphy would send the puck past the WNE goalie, and UNE led 4-0 just thirty-three seconds after the previous UNE goal.  |

WNE made a switch to their goalie with Logan Palmer entering for Palmer's first action of the regular season. UNE immediately sent shots at Palmer. Two were saved by Palmer, one went wide, and one hit the pipe. The WNE offense would have two shots to relieve Palmer of some pressure. UNE then had fourteen of the next sixteen shots. They tested Palmer ten times. Palmer made nine saves, but the tenth shot, from Ryan Kuzmich, found the back of WNE's goal to give UNE the 5-0 lead. Noah Szretter found Dominic Murphy with a pass before Kuzmich received the puck from Murphy and sent the puck crashing into the net with 1:22 left in the second period. UNE was called for a penalty at the very end of the second, and WNE would begin the third period of the game on the power play. The stats saw UNE leading in shots 27-10, shots on goal 21-6, and blocked shots 3-1. WNE led in saves 17-6, and faceoffs won 9-8. UNE was beating WNE 5-0 after two periods of play.

The final period of play saw UNE tack on two more goals to their lead before the end of the game. The first came within the first thirteen seconds of the period. WNE won the opening faceoff, but Chip Hamlett would possess the puck and find Anthony Sciucco, who sent the puck home for a shorthanded goal to give UNE the 6-0 lead. WNE had three shots on the power play but could not score. Each team had a shot after the power play was over. WNE was called for a penalty, and UNE had a power play chance. They had two shots but no goal. After the power play, UNE had two shots that Palmer saved, and WNE had three shots saved by Stanizzi. UNE had a penalty lead to one shot from WNE. Then, UNE was called for a 5-minute major, and WNE had an uninterrupted power play chance. However, it did not go their way. Both teams had three shots during WNE's power play, but it was UNE with the second shorthanded goal of the game. After the UNE defense blocked a shot, Drew Olivieri claimed the puck, skated down the ice and scored. UNE led 7-0 with just under seven minutes remaining in the game. The teams would trade shots and penalties for the rest of the game, and after a little while, the game ended with UNE earning the 7-0 win. The stats saw UNE leading in shots 66-33 and shots on goal 4219. WNE led in blocked shots 9-7, saves 35-19, and faceoff wins 28-22.
