SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 6, 2024) – The Western New England men's wrestling team hosted the Anchormen of Rhode Island College on Friday night from the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center, taking care of the Anchormen, winning eight of ten weight classes to pick up a 37-12 victory.

How it Happened:
The first six points of the match would go Western New England's way as Rhode Island College would forfeit the 125 lb. weight class match, as
Clayton O'Connor would pick up the victory. At 133,
Austin Mitrosky would fall behind early in the match against Kwesi Amoa, though would finish strong in the third period, grabbing a pair of takedowns to pick up the 12-7 decision victory for the Golden Bears, earning WNE three more points.
Peter Charnley earned an emphatic major decision win after getting a takedown to win the match 18-5.
Charnley would never trail in the match for the Golden Bears, who would take a 17-0 match lead after the first four weight classes. The fastest match of the night would come at 157 as WNE's

Charles Maloy would earn a three-point takedown for Western New England in the third period of the 197 lb. weight class and would hold on in the late stages to earn a 5-3 decision victory, Western New England's final win of the night that would propel the Golden Bears to a 37-12 victory over the Anchormen, WNE's second straight win over the Anchormen overall in the meeting of the two programs.
