BOSTON, Mass. (April 7, 2024) – The Western New England men's tennis team could not get past the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-1 in conference play.
How it Happened:
The Golden Bears competed in two close doubles matches, though they would see neither of the matches go their way.
Nick Bayer and
Brandon Greger would fall short in the extra session, dropping an 8-7 (9-7) match in the top doubles spot.
Michel Abizaid Nunez and
Henry Runyan would also do the distance against the Leopards in the second doubles spot, though Western New England would fall short again, dropping the match 8-7 (7-1).
Singles action would not fair as well for the Golden Bears, who were taken down in straight sets in five of the six matches.
Nolan Jermain lifted the Golden Bears to their only win of the afternoon, grabbing a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the sixth singles spot over Thomas Kot of Wentworth. WNE would fall in the match by a final score of 8-1.
