SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Apri 9, 2024) – The Western New England men's tennis team took the visiting Gulls of Endicott College to a tiebreaker in doubles action and three sets in singles, though they would fall by a final score of 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon in CCC play.
How it Happened:
In what would be three close matches in doubles action, the Gulls of Endicott would come away with the first three points of the match to sweep doubles action.
Nick Bayer and
Brandon Greger would fall in a tiebreak in the top doubles spot for the Golden Bears, falling 8-7 (7-4).
Bayer would take Endicott's Conrad Kadel to three sets after winning the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4), though he could not take down the Gulls, falling in set two 3-6 and three 9-11.
Kyle Poccia would collect his fourth win of the season, taking down Endicott's Spencer Smith on a 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 victory in the fifth singles spot. The Golden Bears would fall in the second, third, fourth, and sixth singles spot, seeing Endicott take a 5-1 singles victory and an 8-1 match win.
