Box Score WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (September 23, 2024) – The Western New England women's tennis team fell on the road on Monday afternoon to the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), falling 7-0.
The Golden Bears were not able to get out to the start they had hoped for, falling in all three doubles rounds.
Emma Miller and Malina Dinnis fell 6-1 in the second doubles spot, while
Yasmine Giacalone and
Kelsey Wyse would fall by the same score in the third doubles round. The Golden Bears would drop the opening point of the match, looking to bounce back in singles play.
Western New England would see the Blue Jays come away with quick victories in singles action in the second, fourth, and fifth spots.
Catie Seklecki,
Sydney Shepard, and
Gianna Arace would all fall in straight sets for the Golden Bears. In the top singles spot,
Emma Miller would take the opening set 6-2 from USJ's Olivia
Santoro, though she would fall in a dramatic third set 11-9. Both Malina Dinnis and
Kayla Ledoux would battle for the Golden Bears in their respective singles matches, though they would untimely fall as the Golden Bears fell by a final score of 6-1.

- When asked about the play of sophomore Emma Miller, Head Coach Patrick Roche commented "Emma is a gritty competitor. (She) never gives anyone an easy match. We can always count on her to fight."
