SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 16, 2025) – The Western New England women's wrestling team has unveiled its 2025-2026 schedule, consisting of 14 total events, three of which will take place at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The Golden Bears open competition on Sunday, November 2 at the Princeton Open, held at Jadwin Gymnasium. This marks the first time in program history that the blue and gold will compete at Princeton. The home schedule begins on Sunday, November 9 with a tri-match against the University of Bridgeport and Norwich University beginning at 10:30 AM. The blue and gold then host New England College on Saturday, November 15 at 1:30 PM for their final home match of the season.
The Golden Bears will then hit the road for the remainder of the regular season, starting on Sunday, November 23 at the East Stroudsburg Warrior Duals beginning at 10:00 AM. WNE will compete one final time before the winter break, traveling to the New Standard Invitational at York College (Pa.) on Saturday, December 6 beginning at 9:00 AM.
Western New England returns to the mat in the new year with a trip to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the 2026 NWCA National Duals, a two-day event held at the UNI Dome on January 9-10. The blue and gold then travel back east to compete at the Will Abele Invitational on Saturday, January 17, hosted by Ursinus College. The Golden Bears return to dual action on Saturday, January 24 in Buffalo, New York, taking on Buffalo State and D'Youville University beginning at 11:00 AM.
The final duals of the season will take place on Sunday, February 8 at 12:00 PM, when WNE meets Sacred Heart University and Felician University in Fairfield, Connecticut. The Golden Bears will then turn their attention to the NCAA Regional Championships, where seven wrestlers from last year's roster advanced to the NWCA National Championships. This season marks the first year in which the NCAA officially recognizes women's wrestling as a championship sport. The NCAA Championships will be held from Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8 at Xtreme Arena in Coralville, Iowa. In total, ten Golden Bears have qualified for the
national championships in just three full seasons as a program.
