SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 2, 2025) – The Western New England women's tennis team lost a non-conference match on Thursday afternoon to the Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College, who remain perfect on the season, dropping a 7-0 match at Forest Park Tennis Courts.

How it Happened:
The Anchorwomen got rolling right away in doubles play, sweeping Western New England in the top two matches, not dropping a point as
Emma Miller and
Malina Dinis were defeated in the top spot, while
Sydney Shepard and
Lauren Bilodeau fell in the second spot for the Golden Bears. The third doubles spot was no lock for Rhode Island College as
Yasmine Giacalone and
Kayla Ledoux tied the match at five before RIC took the next two points to earn a 7-5 win, sweep doubles play, and lead 1-0 after it.
In singles, Rhode Island College took it to the Golden Bears in straight sets in all six matches to come up with a 7-0 result in the match.
Emma Miller took three games in the first set but was defeated 6-3, 6-1 in the top singles spot by Arianna De Thomas.
Kayla Ledoux fought hard for Western New England in the sixth singles spot in the second set but dropped a 6-0, 6-4 decision. The Anchorwomen were impressive on the courts, downing the Golden Bears for the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

- Head Coach Steve Duquette explained the lessons learned following today's women's match, saying, "Today, our task was to spring the spice. If we left the courts feeling we played boldly and worked to expand our games, then we succeeded. Highest marks."
