SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 21, 2025) – The Western New England men's basketball team, coming off their historic NCAA Sweet-16 appearance last season, has unveiled its 2025-2026 season schedule, looking to get back on top of the conference again this season.
The Golden Bears open the season on home court, playing host to Springfield College from the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center (CAHLC) on Friday, November 7, at 7:30 PM. This season marks the ninth straight campaign in which the Golden Bears and Pride will meet on opening night, with the Golden Bears having the upper hand in the last four meetings. The Golden Bears remain at home for another non-conference game on Wednesday, November 12, at 7:30 PM when they welcome Brandeis University to the CAHLC for the first time in program history. WNE then hits the road for its first road contest of the year, playing at Keene State College on Saturday, November 15, at 1:00 PM. From there, the blue and gold open Conference of New England (CNE) play on Wednesday, November 19, at 7:30 PM against the newest member of the CNE, Johnson & Wales University. Two games remain in November for the blue and gold in an action-packed month. The Golden Bears head to Ithaca College for a weekend game on Saturday, November 22, at 4:00 PM. November wraps up with a home game for the Golden Bears against Worcester State University in non-conference action on Tuesday, November 25, at 6:00 PM.
The blue and gold return to the floor for CNE action on Tuesday, December 2, hosting the University of Hartford at 7:30 PM. WNE men's basketball then travels to Norwich University for the Ed Hockenbury Classic, where the opening day of the four-team tournament sees the blue and gold take on Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday, December 6, at 8:00 PM. The winner of that game will play in the championship game, while the loser plays in the consolation game the next afternoon. The Golden Bears play their final game of the 2025 portion of the schedule on Saturday, December 13, taking on Wesleyan University, which was ranked number one in NCAA Division III for five straight weeks a season ago.
The new year rings in with a pair of road CNE contests for the Golden Bears, traveling to eastern Massachusetts to meet Gordon College on Saturday, January 3, and Endicott College on Tuesday, January 6. WNE returns home to take on the University of New England on Saturday, January 10, at 3:00 PM. The Golden Bears then take on Nichols College (January 14) and Wentworth Institute of Technology (January 17) before playing in their final non-conference game of the regular season on Wednesday, January 21, traveling to Trinity College (Conn.), which won the NCAA Division III National Championship last season and knocked out Western New England in the Sweet-16 round. CNE play will continue for the remainder of the regular season for the blue and gold as their January schedule ends with a pair of road contests, at Roger Williams on Saturday, January 24, and the University of Hartford on Wednesday, January 28, before hosting Suffolk University in a rematch of last year's Conference of New England Championship on Saturday, January 31.
Six games in the month of February close out the regular season for WNE, an even split of three home games and three road games. The Golden Bears travel to Curry College (February 3), Wentworth Institute of Technology (February 14), and Johnson & Wales University (February 21) while hosting Gordon College (February 7), Roger Williams University (February 11), and Nichols College (February 17). The Conference of New England Tournament will begin following the final regular season game, which takes place from February 24-February 28.
