How it Happened:
First Half:

- Both teams had a shot after that as Suffolk continued to hold onto possession, but WNE would send shots off when they had the ball.
- The Golden Bears would take advantage of their possession in the 36th minute, when Meghan Hartnett sent a cross across the penalty box past the outstretched arms of the Suffolk goalie. Julia Dufresne was on the other side of the goal and pocketed the goal. WNE led 1-0.

Second Half:
- The second half started with the Golden Bears pressing forward and earning a corner and a shot.
- However, it was Suffolk who responded with the next goal. The 52nd minute saw Daniela Petronio score on an assist from Sophia Vazquez.
- Suffolk was increasing their pressure, and it looked like WNE might fold until a through pass from Meghan Hartnett found Liza Pinette.
- Pinette took a touch on the ball past the defender and sent a quick, right-footed tap past the goalie to increase WNE's lead back to two, 3-1, in the 57th minute.
- The very next play, Sinclaire Hart received the opening pass after the goal. Hart launched a pass down to Lily Goldmann, who took the ball and sent it into the goal. The score was 3-2 twelve seconds after Liza's goal.
- The teams would play the ball back and forth, with Suffolk taking a few shots that went wide of the goal.
- Then, Victoria Wilson took a free kick and sent the shot at Arden, who made the save.
- Suffolk kept sending pressure with shot after shot. The WNE defense did a good job of blocking shots and forcing other shots wide.
- Then, in the 85th minute, a Suffolk player was shown a red card, and WNE played a player up for the rest of the contest.

Coach's Corner:
Head coach Kristin Hensinger was asked for a comment after the win. "Our team rallied together for a big game, and it took all 32 of them to get it done today which we hope to carry forward into Tuesday's game. Our seniors were celebrated today, making it an even nicer team win," Hensinger commented.
Ava dos Santos was asked for a comment on her penalty kick goal and how it felt to get her first career Golden Bear goal in such a big conference game. "I saw that we got the pk call and I wasn't sure if I should step up but when I heard my teammates call my name I knew I needed to be confident enough to step up and finish in a crucial moment. When I stepped up to take it, I just took a deep breath, and placed it into the corner and the moment felt so good knowing that was my first collegiate goal and I helped to bring the team a win in an extremely important conference match," dos Santos replied.
Julia Dufresne was asked the same two questions and Dufresne stated, "Going into this game we knew it was a must win game, we also knew it was a really important game for our seniors. I was so excited to score my first collegiate goal knowing our team had so much on the line. In the moment I had to remind myself I have done this 100 times and just needed to stay composed."
Up Next on the Schedule:
- The Golden Bears will travel to Providence, Rhode Island, and Johnson and Wales University for their final regular-season game at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
