Gulls Halt Golden Bears in their Tracks with 5-0 Win over WNE

BEVERLY, Mass. (October 4, 2025) – WNE traveled to Endicott College for their fourth conference clash of the season. WNE was 4-0 going into the contest, but Endicott would score in the first minute of the game and not look back as they would win 5-0, with Riley Perkins and Maddy Dengler each scoring two goals to lift Endicott over WNE on Saturday.

Records:

  • Western New England: 7-5 (3-1)
  • Endicott College: 10-1 (4-0)

How it Happened:

  • Alex Tardugno and Faith Minickene were the starting goalies for WNE and Endicott on Saturday afternoon.
  • One minute into the contest, Endicott was awarded a penalty stroke, which Riley Perkins took and scored on. WNE trailed 1-0 early.
  • WNE responded with the following shot on goal. Minickene saved it.
  • Endicott had the next corner and shot before WNE had a couple of shots blocked and penalty corners defended.
  • Endicott responded in kind, and that would run out the first quarter.
  • The second quarter saw very little trading of possession. WNE had a penalty corner in the 16th minute, but it was answered almost immediately by Endicott, earning another penalty shot and converting. It was Perkins once again with the goal. Endicott led 2-0 in the 19th minute.
  • Kara Edwards had a shot saved in the 20th minute before Endicott would get possession and score in the 28th minute. Maddy Dengler scored the unassisted goal, and WNE trailed 3-0 at the halftime break.
  • At halftime, Endicott had more shots, 9-5, and shots on goal, 8-2. Both teams had three penalty corners, and WNE had more saves, 5-2.
  • The third quarter saw Endicott extend their lead by a goal.
  • However, WNE did get pressure against Endicott. Endicott just found the back of the goal more than WNE.
  • Endicott started the third with a pair of corners and three shots. Tardugno made a save.
  • WNE then rattled off five shots, two shots on goal, and three penalty corners in a row.
  • They could not capitalize, and Endicott made them pay. They had four consecutive shots, with the fourth being an unassisted goal from Tori Swanson. Endicott led 4-0 in the 41st minute.
  • WNE trailed 4-0 after three quarters of play.
  • The fourth quarter saw one last Endicott goal, making it at least one goal per quarter.
  • Alex DeMattia entered the goal for Endicott. DeMattia made three saves immediately after entering. WNE could not find the back of the goal.
  • Endicott followed with three shots. Tardugno saved one, one was blocked, and the final shot was a Maddy Dengler goal in the 57th minute.
  • Endicott won the contest 5-0.
