Ella Smith put together another record-breaking performance this past weekend at the Clark University Duals, being named Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season.
Smith was part of the Western New England squad that took second place to begin the meet in the 200-yard medley relay race out of ten teams overall. Smith dominated the 200-yard butterfly event for her first individual race of the afternoon, easily taking first-place with a time of 2:15.72, a new record within the Western New England women's swimming program, defeating the second-place finisher by just south of five full seconds. The 200-yard breaststroke was won by Smith in dominant fashion, taking the victory in 2:29.13, over 16 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Smith finished the afternoon of events with her third win, this one coming in the 200-yard IM event, finishing the race in 2:14.94, a win 15 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Smith and the Golden Bears get back to the pool following the holiday break, taking part in the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday, December 6 at 11:00 AM.
