Records:
  • Western New England: 7-3
  • Immaculata University: 1-10
How it Happened:

Western New England began the game right on time over the Mighty Macs of Immaculata University, scoring three runs in the top of the third inning to take the early lead. Andrew Florek led off with a hit-by-pitch while John Bova would each on a Mighty Macs error, one of many miscues by Immaculata on the afternoon. Ryan Montini would pick up an RBI groundout, giving WNE a 1-0 lead. Jack Loftus would then bring home himself and Bova on a big fly, his fourth home run of the season, giving the Golden Bears a 3-0 lead. WNE would leave one on base in the top of the first but would come away with the early lead. Matt Lauria came up with a hit in the bottom of the first inning off Matt Lauria, who made the start for the Golden Bears, but that would be all the Mighty Macs would pick up as Lauria and Antonio Galizia would catch the runner stealing to end the inning.

Neither team would come up with a run in the second, third, or fourth innings as the Mighty Macs starter Stephen Devanney would begin to settle in on the mound while Lauria for the Golden Bears continued to overpower the Macs. Western New England would add a run in the top of the fifth inning on another error by Immaculata. John Bova would collect a single up the middle while Ryan Montini would walk, putting runners on first and second with two out in the inning. Jack Loftus would single to shortstop while the Mighty Macs shortstop would make a miscue throw, leading to Bova to come home, giving the Golden Beats a 4-0 lead. Immaculata would threaten with a single and walk in the bottom of the fifth inning, but relief pitcher Jared Kuryan would get the Golden Bears out of the inning.

Western New England would take full control of the game in the top of the sixth inning, doubling their lead. Canon Marshall opened the inning with a single while another fielding error for the Mighty Macs would bring Marshall home on a Jack Gamache groundball, giving Western New England a 5-0 lead. The bases would quickly load for the Golden Bears for Ryan Montini with one out, and Montini would deliver an RBI single to center field, giving WNE a 6-0 lead. Jack Loftus would add two more runs to the board for the Golden Bears on a single up the middle. WNE would take an 8-0 lead out of the top of the sixth inning. Immaculata would not go away quietly, however, getting two RBI singles, one from Ryan Nace and another from Luke Hardnock, getting the Mighty Macs their first two runs of the game. The Golden Bears would get those two runs right back in the top of the seventh inning after the top of the Western New England order would produce two more runs. Andrew Florek picked up an RBI double to left field, scoring Canon Marshall, who began the inning with a walk. Florek would score on the next hit for WNE, a ground-rule double from John Bova, Bova's fifth double of the season.

The Mighty Macs would attempt to come back in the bottom of the seventh inning, adding two runs to their total, getting a double and ground out to come up with their third and fourth runs of the game against Jared Kuryan. In the top of the eighth, Western New England would respond with a six spot on the scoreboard to put the game out of reach. Western New England would bat around the lineup as Jack Loftus began the inning with a triple to right center field while Connor Cowern would deliver an RBI double to give WNE a 11-4 lead. The Golden Bears would continue to score as Canon Marshall, Antonio Galizia, John Bova, and Ryan Montini all picked up RBIs for the Golden Bears, who took a 16-4 lead after the top of the eighth inning. The Mighty Macs would come back for two runs in the bottom of the ninth as Todd Grammatico would finish the game with a strikeout and would get the final out of the game on a groundout, giving Western New England a 16-6 win.
