HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 14, 2025) – The Western New England men's tennis team did not pick up the all-important first point of the match on Friday afternoon to Mount Saint Mary University and it would cost them, falling 4-3 in their final match of their spring break trip.
How it Happened:
The Golden Bears fell in all three doubles matches, not able to get their first point of the match.
Kyle Poccia and
Thomas Roche would fall 6-3 in the top spot,
Eston Fowler and
Joshua Marx 6-3 in the second doubles spot and
Ryan Keith and
Brandon Allen 6-0 in the third doubles spot as Mount Saint Mary came up with the 1-0 lead after doubles action.
Western New England bounced back in singles play, coming up with wins in the third, fifth, and sixth singles positions overall.
Thomas Roche would go the distance in a three-set third singles position thrilling match, picking up the win 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Joshua Marx would impress for the Golden Bears in the fifth singles spot, coming up with his first collegiate win for the blue and gold in singles play, winning 6-0, 6-1.
Brandon Allen would make his debut and pick up a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mateo Romero of MSM, earning WNE their third point of the afternoon but it would not be enough as the Golden Bears would fall by a final score of 4-3.
