Flynn would get Wheaton again in order in the bottom of the fifth before getting into some trouble in the fourth.

The Lyons came up with a runner on second with one out while the next two in their order would be walked, filling the bases on Flynn. The WNE starter would get a pop-out on his next at-bat but could not finish the job and grab the final out without giving up two runs after Nick Giangregorio delivered a two-RBI single to left field, giving Wheaton a 2-0 lead. Western New England would quickly with two of their own in the bottom of the fourth to even the score at two. Loftus would reach on a fielder's choice while Paragarino would single up the middle to move runners to the corners with one out. Jack Gamache would collect the other RBI on a bases loaded walk with one out, evening the score at two. Western New England would leave the bases loaded after striking out and grounding out to end the inning.

Connor Slifer would toss the next two innings for the Golden Bears, getting Wheaton in order in the fifth but would give up an RBI single in the sixth to Giangregorio, which put Wheaton ahead 3-2. From there, Wheaton began mowing down the Western New England offense while the Lyons offense would add a run in the top of the eighth with a leadoff home run from Kevin Matos as the Wheaton left fielder added to his team lead in home runs this season. Nathan Acabchuk would give up the home run and would run into more trouble in the inning before Demitri Boulas would finish off the Lyons in the eighth, leaving two stranded on the base paths. The Lyons added insurance in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly as the Golden Bears looked for something to get themselves going with three outs to play. After the first out was recorded in the bottom of the ninth, Western New England's next five batters would reach. Jack Gamache got the offense going with a single while also stealing a base. The Lyons would threaten in the top of the tenth innings off Lucas Kamoen, who gave up a single while the Lyons would also reach on the first error of the afternoon for WNE, putting runners on the corner with one out. Wheaton's Logan Downey would look to pick up a squeeze bunt, but the Golden Bears would be all over that, getting the out at the plate to keep Wheaton from scoring. Robbie Lamond would then ground out to end the inning as Kamoen got out of trouble.
