SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 18, 2025) – The Western New England men's tennis team fell in their final Conference of New England match on Friday afternoon from Forest Park Tennis Courts to the Bison of Nichols College by a final score of 7-0.
Records:
- Western New England: 5-9, 2-7 CNE
- Nichols College: 8-10, 8-0 CNE
How it Happened:
The opening doubles round would not bounce Western New England's way despite close matches in the first and second doubles pairing.
Nick Bayer and
Colby Esposito would fall by a final score of 7-5 in the top spot while
Quinn Northrop and
Nolan Jermain would drop a 6-4 match in the second spot, which put the Golden Bears behind against the top contender in the Conference of New England standings, the Bison of Nichols College.
In singles action, all six matches would go just two sets with the Bison sweeping the day away to remain undefeated in CNE play.
Nick Bayer would drop a 6-4, 6-1 decision in the first spot.
Colby Esposito would battle but fall 6-1, 6-4 in the two slot.
Quinn Northrop would be tied at five after the first ten games in the opening set but would not be able to come away with a win, falling 7-5, 6-2 in the third spot.
Brandon Greger dropped a close 6-3, 6-2 match in the fourth slot for the Golden Bears overall.
Nolan Jermain fell short 6-3, 6-3 in the fifth spot while
Henry Runyan would drop a 6-2, 6-1 match for the blue and gold, seeing Nichols come away with wins in all nine matches overall to take a 7-0 victory over Western New England.
