Trey Young would deliver a single and an RBI of his own on the next at-bat, which gave the Golden Bears a 4-0 lead after one inning of play. Cole Camara, Carter Doran, and Billy Sullivan recorded RBI hits for Clark in the frame. The Golden Bears would get those three runs back in the top of the second inning after Clark's Casey Gorcyca could not miss many WNE bats.

Clark did get a hit and a run in the top of the sixth inning after a single would lead into a failed pickoff attempt, sending the Clark runner to third while the Cougars would smack a sacrifice fly to score the run, still trailing 9-4.
Western New England would break the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth on one swing of the bat when
John Bova connected on a grand slam with the bases juiced, putting the Golden Bears ahead by a sizeable margin, leading 13-4. Bova would move to 3/5 on the afternoon with the hit, picking up his first four RBIs in the game. Both teams came up with runs in the top of the seventh with
Trey Young coming up with an RBI single for WNE and
