SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 9, 2025) – The Western New England men's tennis team dropped a Conference of New England match on Wednesday afternoon from Forest Park Tennis Courts at the hands of the Fighting Scots of Gordon College, falling by a final score of 6-1. Despite the loss, WNE picked up a win in the sixth singles spot from
Kyle Poccia.

- Gordon College: 7-6, 3-2 CNE
How it Happened:
The Golden Bears would battle in the top two doubles pairing as
Nick Bayer and Colby Espositio along with the team of
Quinn Northrop and
Nolan Jermain would fight would the Scots but Gordon would come up with the opening point of the match. Northrop and Jermain picked up four points in the second doubles position but would drop a 6-4 match. The top singles spot would go the distance with Bayer and Esposito fighting for a point but would ultimately fall by a final score of 7-6. Gordon opened the match with a 1-0 lead.
Gordon would take control of the singles matches early, as Carlton Riester won the fifth spot 6-0, 6-0, Jeffrey Bodner in the top spot 6-1, 6-0, and Vittal Haith 6-1, 6-1 in the third spot.
Brandon Greger would open the first set of the fourth singles spot with two points but would fall short, 6-2, 6-1. In the sixth spot,
Kyle Poccia earned a 6-1, 6-1 win for the Golden Bears, their first and what ended up being their only win of the match, nearly coming away with the sweep. In the second singles spot,
Colby Esposito would find himself down 6-4 after the first set but stormed back with a 6-2 win in the second set to force a winner-take-all in the third set. Esposito would drop a 10-8 decision in the final set though competed hard in his first-ever three-set singles match for WNE. Western New England would fall by a final score of 6-1.
