How it Happened:

First Half:

  • The teams traded a couple more shots after that, but neither team was able to get the go-ahead goal before the first half expired.
  • The stats at halftime looked relatively similar. Smith led 7-5 in shots and 4-3 in shots on goal. Both teams had two fouls. Smith had more corner kicks, 3-0, and WNE had more saves, 4-3.

Second Half:

  • WNE had the first eight shots of the second half, with three shots on goal.
  • However, Una Keller would give Smith the lead in the 73rd minute on Smith's first shot of the second half.
  • That 1-0 Smith lead would not last for long as first-year forward Sophia Scyocurka found the back of the net forty-six seconds after the Smith goal to tie the game 1-1. That was Scyocurka's first career Golden Bear goal.
  • WNE continued to test Sky Smith in goal, with shots from Julia Dufresne and Liza Pinette, but the goalkeeper was equal to the task each time.
  • WNE's final chance came in the 84th minute as Meghan Hartnett went for goal, but Sky Smith made the save to preserve the 1-1 draw.
