How it Happened:
First Half:
- The contest began with Ainsley Napolitano and Riley Andriski in goal for the Golden Bears and Owls.
- Outside of an early corner kick, it was all WNE early. WNE maintained possession and had the majority of the shots early, but none on goal.
- That was until Abigail Alicandro won a scrum for the ball on the top right corner of the 18-yard box. Alicandro would take a step and fire the ball into the left corner of the goal. WNE led 1-0 in the 18th minute.
- The contest would settle down for a little while, with WNE still controlling possession and having some opportunities, but none that truly threatened Andriski in goal for a while.
- That was until Isabel Barbieri sent a shot at the bottom right corner of the goal, but Andriski made the save.
- Alicandro went for goal once more in the 44th minute, but Andriski made another save in the bottom left corner of the goal.
- At halftime, WNE led 1-0. They also led in shots 8-2, shots on goal 3-0, and corner kicks 6-1. Keene State had more saves, 2-0. Both teams had four fouls in the first half.
Second Half:
- The second half saw KSC open with pressure. They had the first shot of the second half and had the majority of the early possession. Then, Victoria Wilson sent a free kick shot at goal, and Andriski made a brilliant save in the 50th minute of the game to keep the deficit at one.
- That would only hold the scoreline for a little while. The 52nd minute saw Liza Pinette find Meghan Hartnett on the top-kleft corner of the 18-yard box. Hartnett fired a left-footed shot across the face of the goal and into the bottom-right corner of the goal. WNE led 2-0.
- Keene State had more chances after that. They had a shot in the 53rd minute, slamming off the top frame of the goal, and then a shot in the 63rd minute was saved by Napolitano.
- The 74th minute saw a shot saved by Napolitano.
- That was answered by Natalia Estrada Rangel, who sent a shot at goal, which Andriski saved.

Coach's Corner:
Game-winning goal scorer, Abigail Alicandro, spoke to the Sports Information team after the game. Alicandro was asked what it meant to pick up the clean sheet victory after a conference victory on Saturday and another conference game coming up at the end of the week. "Coming off of Hartford, I know that we had a bit of inconsistency early on in the season, but securing two wins back-to-back and keeping the intensity up, with double shutouts, that means that we are setting ourselves up for a successful season," Alicandro stated. Then, when asked about the goal, Alicandro answered with, "Honestly, I didn't have any celebration. I was just trying to get that initial goal so that we could all take a deep breath. I think nerves were high, so I was really relieved when it went in, but then super excited for the team."
Up Next on the Schedule:
- The Golden Bears will travel for their next game. They will be in Dudley, Massachusetts, on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 4:00 PM to take on Nichols College.
