SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 26, 2025) – The Western New England women's tennis team was defeated by the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth on Friday afternoon from Forest Park Tennis Courts. Despite capturing the doubles point, the Corsairs fought back to take five of six singles matches to come away with the 5-2 win over the Golden Bears.

  • UMass-Dartmouth: 5-2
How it Happened:

The Golden Bears picked up the important first point of the match to take a 1-0 lead, winning two of the three doubles matches. In the third doubles match, Yasmine Giacalone and Kayla Ledoux combined for a 6-4 victory, while Emma Miller and Malina Dinis came up with a 6-3 win in the top spot for the Golden Bears to earn the first point of the match, leading 1-0 after the doubles session.

In singles play, three matches went the distance, including the two top spots. Both the first and second singles matches did not go Western New England's way despite hard efforts from both Miller and Dinis. Miller fell 3-6, 7-5, 1-6 in the first spot, while Dinis fought hard but fell 5-7, 6-4, 2-6. Kayla Ledoux also went the distance for the Golden Bears in the sixth singles spot, earning the opening set victory 6-4, but was not able to fight off UMD's Kayli Langan, dropping a 4-6, 2-6 second and third set match. In the end, Western New England fell 5-2 in the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
