SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 30, 2025) – Western New England men's golf's
Derek Johnson has picked up Conference of New England Co-Golfer of the Week following his performance at this past weekend's Bowdoin College Invitational.
Johnson finished tied for first overall at the event with Endicott's Myles O'Quinn, shooting two strokes under par out of 97 golfers. Johnson shot one stroke under par on the opening day of the event, collecting a -3 on the front nine and two strokes over par on the back nine. Johnson collected three birdies, two bogeys, and 13 pars for the round.
The Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, native recorded his first eagle of the season on the second day of the event on the third hole, shooting +1 for the front nine overall and a -2 for the back nine to finish with a 71 for both days, tying for first place in the event. Johnson wins his first event of the season and his fifth career tournament victory in his young career.
WNE men's golf plays at the Conference of New England Championships this coming weekend, Saturday, October 4, and Sunday, October 5, at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
