WORCESTER, Mass. (September 6, 2025) – The Golden Bears traveled to WPI for their first away contest of the 2025 campaign. The Golden Bears would strike first, but would not be able to strike again. WPI would take over after the Golden Bears' opening goal and win the game 4-1, thanks to four separate goal scorers.

How it Happened:
- Myles Lakin started the game in goal for the Engineers, while Alex Tardugno started on the other end of the field for WNE.
- WNE had the early chances with a penalty corner, a shot blocked, and then a penalty stroke was awarded to Haley Kaczka.
- Kaczka converted on the penalty stroke, scoring Kaczka's second goal of the season. WNE led 1-0 at 3:46 into the game.
- The teams went back and forth for the rest of the first quarter of play. Both teams had penalty corners, but neither could score the next goal.
- 4:48 into the second quarter, Lauren Meinhold scored goal number two of the season for Meinhold to tie the game at one.
- Then, with 20 seconds left, a penalty corner was taken by Emma Barton. Barton would regain possession after it was passed to Arie Lang and Madeline Chase. Barton would score, and WPI had a 2-1 lead at halftime.
- Stats at the half favored WPI offensively, with them having more shots, 13-6. WNE had more saves, 3-0, and penalty corners, 7-6.
- WPI controlled the offensive possession for much of the third quarter, and it paid off with an Abbey Powers goal. Powers' first of the season was a chip shot into the top-left corner of the goal. WPI led 3-1 after three quarters of play.
- The fourth quarter saw WNE garner more offense and another penalty stroke for Kaczka, but the shot went wide, and WNE still trailed 3-1.
- With 6:28 remaining in the contest, Leah Uglevich scored after taking a penalty corner. Kyra Duane had the assist on Uglevich's first goal of the season. WPI led 4-1.
- The final score saw WNE fall 4-1.

- WNE lost its first game of the season to WPI 4-1.
- Haley Kaczka was credited with the lone WNE goal, a penalty stroke.
- Lauren Meinhold, Emma Barton, Abbey Powers, and Leah Uglevich scored the four goals for the Engineers.
